Pilgrimage and fraternal bridges by the Sisters from Romania

Rome, May 31, 2025. In the context of the Jubilee Year, the Basilian Sisters from Romania, accompanied by Greek Catholic bishops, priests, and faithful, made a hope-filled pilgrimage to Rome. Joyfully welcomed by the Sisters of the General Curia, they participated in a Marian prayer in the Vatican Gardens, concluding the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The procession ended at the Lourdes Grotto, where Pope Leo XIV addressed the pilgrims. The Sisters prayed for peace, the needs of the Church, and the upcoming General Chapter. On June 1, they passed through the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica and took part in the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Byzantine Rite in Romanian.

Basilian Sisters from Around the World Make Jubilee Pilgrimage to St. Peter’s Basilica

Rome, April 10, 2025 —In a profound gesture of unity and faith, the Basilian Sisters from various parts of the world — including Ukraine, Romania, Argentina, Slovakia, the United States, and the community in Rome — came together as pilgrims and as a “bridge of hope” during the Jubilee Year.
The Sisters made a solemn pilgrimage to the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica, symbolizing their desire for renewal and grace. United in prayer, they lifted their hearts to God, interceding especially for a just peace in Ukraine and for all those who suffer the consequences of war and violence around the globe.
“May God’s light and His mercy envelop all who suffer,” one Sister reflected, “and bring hope even where there is the deepest darkness.”
This moving act of international Sisterhood and spiritual solidarity serves as a testament to the power of faith, the strength of communion, and the unwavering hope that peace and healing are possible through prayer and unity.
