About Us
Basilian Sisters living the Gospel in today’s world
Rooted in the Spirit, Alive in the world
A life shaped by Eastern Catholic tradition — contemplative, communal, and compassionate
A Legacy of Faith Across Centuries
Worldwide mission of prayer and service
Our story begins in the 4th century, with the spiritual vision of Saint Basil the Great and his sister, Saint Macrina. Born in the heart of the Eastern Church, the first women’s monasteries lived in simplicity, prayer, and service,
a way of life that would spread across cultures and generations.
Through times of persecution
and rebirth
The Basilian Sisters remained faithful to their mission. From Kyiv to North and South America, from Eastern Europe to Australia, we have carried the light of Christ into schools, parishes, missions, and the lives of those most in need.
This is not only our past. It is the foundation of who we are today.
One Heart, One Mission
We serve across continents
The Basilian Sisters are present in 12 countries, across 4 continents. We live and serve in provinces, vice-provinces, missions, and contemplative monasteries, always listening to the signs of the times and responding with prayer and presence.

Joyful service, deep prayer, and sisterhood
To be a Basilian Sister means to respond to God’s love with your whole life. Following the Rule of Saint Basil, we live in community, pray daily, and serve others with joy — drawing strength from the Eucharist, Scripture, and shared mission.
Discerning your path?
A vocation is not a decision it’s a response to love. If you feel drawn to a life of prayer and service,
