Spirituality

Our spirituality flows from prayer, community, and mission

A Life Rooted in God

We are called to live in deep union with Christ. Our way of life is shaped by the Eastern Catholic tradition and inspired by Saint Basil and Saint Macrina. Here, prayer becomes action, and silence becomes light

The Seal of

Saint Basil the Great

For the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great, the seal is a symbol of vision and mission.
The seal features a column of flame rising from earth to heaven, symbolizing the profound faith and love of God and people, as well as the hospitality and the labors that the Basilian Sisters perform today in the name of God.

Surrounding and framing the flame are two branches: one laurel and one oak.

The oak branch represents courage, fortitude, and perseverance.
The laurel branch represents the peace of Christ; the love of knowledge and wisdom; and victory and eternal glory as a reward for a life dedicated to the service of God and humanity.

They are joined at the top by a stylized sun, partially framing a cross. Below the cross are the Greek letters IXC, representing Jesus Christ, Son of God, the Light of the world, the Sun who illuminates the path the Sisters follow.

Their Spirit Lives in Us

The Spirituality We Carry Forward Today

Three Commitments That Guide Our Journey

A Heart Free to Love: Metanoia

We give our hearts to God so that He can transform us and we can love others without fear. This love makes us available, open, and joyful — free to serve with peace and purpose: sharing the Gospel in any part of the world.

A Life That Listens Deeply: Koinonia

We listen for God’s voice in prayer: in our superiors, in our communities and in everyday life. Together, we seek what brings peace and unity — and walk with faith, trusting that His will is a path of love and meaning.

A Simple Life That Shares: Diaconia

We choose simplicity to find joy in what truly matters. Living with less helps us give more — our time, our talents, and our hearts — to those in need and to the community.

“When you have the Lord – such immeasurable Beauty, Goodness, Wisdom – just let the joy that is received from Him suffice for you.”

- St. Basil: Homily 15 on Psalm 32
