Sr. Marina Moroz, OSBM

17 Nov. 1958 - 5 Jun. 2025

Sr. Marina Moroz, OSBM, Christ the King Province, Argentina, was called back to the Lord on June 5, 2025, after a long illness.

“Good and faithful servant… come and share in the joy of your Lord” (Mt 25:21).

Marina Graciela Rosa Moroz was born on November 17, 1958, into a Catholic family.  On January 19, 1975, she entered the Order of St. Basil the Great, which was a special gift to the Province in Argentina. On July 19 of that same year, she received the monastic habit and on October 9, 1977, she professed her Simple Vows.

Sister Marina made her solemn profession on January 1, 1983.

She worked diligently and tirelessly in all the places where she was sent by her Superiors for pastoral tasks and served as High School Principal and math teacher. She was able to adapt to the places where she worked: in the Misiones State or in Buenos Aires. She also served as Provincial Councilor and Secretary.

With her voice, she served the Lord, leading the Divine Liturgy and community prayers.

An example of her great dedication and love for others was especially shown when she cared for her mother during the few years before she went to be with the Lord.

For the last 15 years of her life, Sr. Marina was the principal at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Berisso, Buenos Aires.  While actively working, she received the news of her illness in 2021. At that time her faith and trust in God enabled her to lead a peaceful life, with serenity and a positive attitude; she underwent medical treatment and continued working at the school and also continued her pastoral mission of teaching catechism until 2023.

Sister Marina wanted to continue living, but, by Divine Will, she passed away, and she surely heard the Lord say to her: “You have fought to the end, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith” (2 Tim 4:7).

Sister Anastasia Laszkarow, OSBM, Provincial Superior, expressed: “We have two feelings: spiritual joy, because we know that Sr. Marina is with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; nostalgia, because her departure and physical absence causes us to miss her! But in the certainty of our faith, we know that, sooner or later, we will meet again someday….  So, Sister Marina: Farewell. Víchnaia pamiat.”
