Most Holy Trinity Province, Lviv, Ukraine
The Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great form Ukraine’s oldest monastic community, rooted in early Christian monasticism and the Rule of Saint Basil. Despite closures under Austrian rule, they revived education and charity in the 19th century.
A renewal in the late 19th and early 20th centuries expanded their presence across Ukraine and abroad, with over 330 Sisters running schools, orphanages, and hospitals by the 1930s. Soviet persecution nearly destroyed their ministry, forcing them underground.
Today, the Holy Trinity Province operates 22 communities offering catechesis, spiritual guidance, education, medical care, and orphan support. They also engage in ecclesial arts and produce natural remedies. United with international Basilian Provinces, they continue glorifying God through prayer, service, and faith-filled creativity.
