For the first time in the history of the Order: Sr. Anna Andrusiv’s perpetual vows in Kyiv
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, for the first time in the history of the Basilian Sisters in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine , Sister Anna Andrusiv, OSBM, made her Perpetual Vows in the presence of M. Emanujila Vishka, OSBM, General Superior at St. Basil the Great Church that belongs to the Basilian Fathers. The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided by Bishop Stepan Sus, head of the Pastoral-Migration Department of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in concelebration with Fr. Joseph Shchur, OSBM, superior of the monastery, and numerous priests. The celebration was attended by Basilian Sisters from Ukraine, led by M. Danyila Vynnyk, OSBM, Provincial Superior, Sr. Sevastiana Zinkevych, OSBM, Vicar General, Sisters and guests who came from different parts of Ukraine.
In her greeting, M. Emmanujila Vishka, OSBM, shared her threefold gratitude to God for this solemn day when Sister Anna said “yes” to God. The first reason for gratitude is the place where the Perpetual Vows were taken – golden-domed Kyiv, a place of spiritual power, the heart of Ukraine. The second reason for gratitude is this time of grace, which brought together the past, present, and future of the Basilian Order. The General Superior noted that Sister Anna has been blessed by the Basilian Sisters in Ukraine and around the world, our deceased Sisters who served in Kyiv, as well as future Basilian Sisters who may be watching and listening and who will one day enter our monasteries. The third reason for gratitude is Sister Anna herself, who died to the world today in order to rise with Christ.
